Family-owned slushie store launches in Metrocentre Gateshead
A family slushie drinks brand has announced that it is opening a new store in the North East at Metrocentre Gateshead.
The new store, Selfee, has been launched by siblings Amy and Scott Campbell, whose father Peter founded slushies brand SnowShock nearly two decades ago.
The idea for the store, which will serve a range of slushie flavours, soft drinks and coffees, came about during lockdown.
Amy Campbell, co-founder, commented: “The idea to create Selfee came about while I was furloughed, I have two young children and I was thinking about what I would do next.
“Our family started bouncing ideas off each other and eventually we came up with the idea of Selfee based on our family slushie flavour brand SnowShock.”
Ben Cox from Sovereign Centros, senior asset manager for Metrocentre, said: “This past year has been a challenge for all but it is great to see an innovative new business idea, born out of lockdown, come to fruition.
“Bringing exciting new independent stores to Metrocentre is a key initiative, so local family owned slushie store, Selfee, is a welcome addition to the malls.”
