Monopoly-themed restaurant gets ready to roll with new West End venue

A new ‘Monopoly’-themed restaurant is set to open in London’s West End next month as the first of a series of game-inspired venues across the capital.

The Top Hat, which will be located at The Court on Tottenham Court Road, will be made up of a 70-cover restaurant and 47-cover cocktail bar.

The game has been integrated into the venue, with ‘Monopoly Lifesized’ - a 4D immersive experience across life-sized boards.

Guests will also be able to request a deck of card game ‘Monopoly Deal’, or select a ‘Take A Chance’ card on some orders.

The interior of the venue has been designed by Faber, reflecting the art deco era of the game, with vintage bank vaults lining the walls and reclaimed fabrics from Underground lines representing the game’s stations.

Joseph R Smith, director of F&B at The Top Hat, commented:“So many of us have fond memories of playing the iconic game, be it with grandparents in our childhood or over drinks with friends in our adult lives.

“The Top Hat’s convivial dining concept was conceived to encourage people to come together again, for what we hope will be a delicious nostalgic trip down memory lane.

“For some, the London version of the board game was their first experience of the capital.

“We’re excited to be part of the journey as London slowly comes back to life and to be opening a hospitality venture that celebrates the city and its wonderfully rich heritage.

“We can’t wait to welcome Londoners, and in time visitors from further afield for a memorable drinking and dining experience of whimsical luxury, fit for Mr Monopoly himself.”
