First of 750 jobs up for grabs at “mammoth” £300m Teesside offshore wind facility

The first job created by SeAH Wind at its “mammoth” £300m offshore wind manufacturing factory has today opened to applications.

The HR Manager role will lead the recruitment of other staff for the site, which will see up to 750 jobs created over the next few years as the factory becomes fully operational. SeAH Wind’s facility at Teesworks will be the world’s biggest plant producing monopiles that form the foundations of offshore wind turbines.

As the first point of contact for all UK staff, the HR Manager will have the responsibility of establishing and managing a full HR service, including staff development, performance monitoring, the development of company policies and training plans.

Construction is due to start in July on the 40-metre-tall, 1.13million sq ft building, which will sit on a 90-acre site adjacent to Teesworks’ £107m heavy-lift South Bank Quay. During construction 1,500 good-quality, well paid-jobs will be created on-site and in the supply chain.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen (pictured left) said: “This advert marks the start of a massive employment drive for SeAH’s new factory, which will see hundreds of good-quality, well-paid jobs available for local workers.

“SeAH has already engaged almost 200 local firms to find out how they can get on board with construction, boosting amazing local companies across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool and helping them to grow – now it’s recruiting in earnest to get its facility up and running.

David Jack, sales and business development manager at SeAH Wind, added: “All mighty lakes start with one drop, as with the start of SeAH Wind’s recruitment in the Tees Valley area it represents a key milestone as we begin to make real our exciting plans on the South Bank.

“This role will be crucial in kick-starting our wider recruitment process over the next few years and is a fantastic chance to help shape the workforce and culture at our new facility.

Cllr Mary Lanigan, leader of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, concluded: “This is the first stepping stone in employing a workforce which will drive forward this clean, renewable energy facility.

“Anyone interested in future vacancies, who may need some support to secure a good job can utilise the Teesworks Skills Academy, as hundreds then thousands of positions gradually become available in our area.”
