Matthew Strain - Sintons

Law firm Sintons is continuing its strong growth across the firm with the appointment of a new partner. Matthew Strain becomes a partner in Sintons’ commercial team, which supports businesses regionally and nationally - from pre-startups to multi-site ventures, with the full range of commercial issues, including contracts, shareholder matters and regulation.

Matthew, an experienced solicitor in this area of law, specialises in commercial structuring, litigation and supporting corporate transactions. He also has experience in high value, complex cases with international dimensions. He joins Sintons at a time of growth for the commercial department and the wider firm, and relocates from London for the opportunity.

Matthew said: “I am very pleased to join the partnership of Sintons at a very exciting time of ongoing growth and progress for the firm. The commercial team has an excellent presence in the marketplace and supports clients across the country at all stages of development in achieving their goals and putting the necessary provision in place for that to happen.

“Sintons has a long and proud heritage and a first-rate reputation for its legal work and client service excellence, and I look forward to continuing to build this.”

Karen Simms, head of the commercial team at Sintons, added: “Matthew has an extremely strong track record in commercial work and we are delighted to welcome him to Sintons.

“Our commercial department is regularly appointed by clients, both new and existing, on a national basis, and our reputation precedes us in terms of both our legal capability and client service. We are very proud of this, and the commitment we have to absolutely every matter we work on, and are always striving to build this even further.”

Donna Alderson - BNP Paribas

BNP Paribas Real Estate continues the expansion of its Newcastle office by appointing Donna Alderson as associate director within lease advisory. Donna joins following a year at Eddisons. Prior to this, she spent a decade as a senior surveyor at Newcastle City Council.

Aidan Baker, head of the Newcastle office at BNP Paribas Real Estate commented: “Donna’s hire is the latest in our work to grow our office with hires that command a strong local market knowledge and expertise in their field.

“Donna has almost two decades of experience advising on leases across the North East at the highest level with her work within Newcastle Council, and as such, is the ideal candidate to bolster our client offer as market conditions are requiring more of a wider variation of leasing options.”

Leighton Thomas, head of lease advisory at BNP Paribas Real Estate added: “We operate one the UK’s largest lease advisory teams and act across all real estate asset classes.

“To allow us to service our growing client demand, we’ve been actively recruiting market experts across our offices. Donna is the latest hire we’ve announced in a matter of months, and we are actively looking at further hires as we expand further.”

Donna’s hire follows Jason Smith who joined as a director of valuations within the Newcastle office following three years with Eddisons. The BNP Paribas Real Estate lease advisory team, led by Leighton Thomas, recently announced the appointment of Jean Parker who joined as director.
