£1bn re-imagining of London’s original department store announces new additions

As part of our 2023 Retail Week coverage, in association with Metrocentre, we hear from The Whiteley, which has announced two ‘world-class’ food and beverage operators as the latest additions to its curated selection of offerings at the £1bn re-imagining of London’s original department store, set to open in 2024.

Effie by Pachamama Group, a new concept from the team behind Pachamama Bar + Kitchen, Guillam Coffee House, is set to be the fifth outpost in central London serving single origin specialty coffees and teas.

The latest restaurant from the group will take over 5,000 sq ft of space across two floors within The Whiteley, directly accessed via the corner of Queensway and Porchester Gardens in Bayswater, one of London’s most dynamic neighbourhoods.

With a focus on traditional cooking techniques, the restaurant will source the highest quality seasonal ingredients and modern mezze flavours to create a plethora of interpretive feasting dishes, transporting guests to Greece’s coastline.

The menu will offer an array of char grilled meats and fish, and the space will display baskets of vegetables and carefully curated ornaments and artworks, with a space for private dining.

Guillam Coffee House is also joining the line-up of new offerings at The Whiteley, promising a ‘one-of a-kind’ coffee house experience. The Whiteley marks the latest chapter in Guillam Coffee House’s journey to cater to the “diverse tastes and preferences of discerning clientele”, with locations already in South Kensington and Mayfair among others.

Guillam Coffee House will take nearly 1,000 sq. ft, and will be accessed via Queensway. CBRE and Orme acted on behalf of The Whiteley to secure these brand partners.

Set to make their debut in 2024, Effie by Pachamama Group and Guillam Coffee House will join the suite of other brands at The Whiteley including Everyman Cinema, Third Space and Six Senses, with a host of additional names set to be announced in the coming weeks and months.

Adam Goldin, Head of UK at CC Land, commented: “We are proud to be partnering with brands that will deliver an outstanding experience within this reimagined London landmark.

“With Effie by Pachamama Group and Guillam Coffee House joining our collection, we continue to realise our vision of turning The Whiteley into a truly unique residential, retail, leisure destination, respecting its retailing legacy.”
