Coventry and Warwickshire hailed an 'incredible place to invest' at business event

Coventry and Warwickshire has been hailed as an ‘incredible place to invest’ by national and international companies at an event in the region.

Coventry and Warwickshire Champions, which is part of the CW Growth Hub Group, held its latest bi-monthly meeting at the brand new Segro Park Coventry development, which falls just inside Warwick District.

More than 200 delegates got a first view of the new, state-of-the-art 200,000 sq ft Unit 4B on the site close to Coventry Airport that will eventually be home to more than 3.7 million sq ft of space, creating around 5,000 jobs, as well as green spaces for public use.

The breakfast meeting was kicked-off by Craig Humphrey, CEO of the CW Growth Hub, before a presentation from Andy Fancy, of Hill Group, on the company’s plans for around 1,000 homes and commercial space in Coventry city centre.

Event host – Adam Dent, a consultant for PLMR Advent, then sat down for an interview with Petra Felgen, the managing director of CEWE UK, who explained how the company’s site in Warwick produces the bulk of UK orders for its photo book and photo gift products.

The event was concluded by a presentation from David Sleath, the CEO of Segro PLC – a top 50 FTSE company – on the firm’s history and the decision to create the new scheme in the region.

Andy, Petra and David all praised Coventry and Warwickshire as a very welcoming region in which to invest.

Nic Erskine, Executive Director of CW Champions, said: “The event at Segro Coventry was completely sold out and it was fantastic to see so many businesses in the room. There was a real buzz.

“All of our speakers had a great story to tell and it was amazing to hear what an incredible place to invest Coventry and Warwickshire has been from their point of view. It really was the perfect advert for the region as a place to do business and as a place to attract inward investment.

“We are really pleased to be able to offer a platform to businesses of this size and scale who are operating within our region to come to talk to and meet companies from all over Coventry and Warwickshire.

“CW Champions is now in its eleventh year and this was right up there with one of the best events we have held and we’re now looking forward to 2024 and continuing to find more speakers to share their stories and give our businesses even more positive things to say about Coventry and Warwickshire.”
