Fulham Club’s multi-million-pound transformation announces recruitment drive

David Lloyd Leisure has launched a local recruitment drive for key hospitality, spa, and fitness roles as part of a multi-million-pound transformation of its Fulham Club.

At Unit 24, Fulham Broadway Retail Centre, the Club is expected to generate more than 40 new jobs when operational. Construction began in June 2023, and the development phase is expected to generate more than £6.5m for local subcontractors and companies and involve 50 to 60 construction jobs. The Club will re-open in early 2024.

David Lloyd Clubs, Europe’s largest health, fitness, and wellness group, has 103 clubs in the UK, employs around 8,100 people, and climbed five places to number 16. The Club temporarily closed on 30 June to begin an eight-month work programme to create “one of London’s finest health, well-being, and fitness clubs”.

The senior management team has been recruited and appointed from around the country, with Kristen Westwood returning as General Manager. Interviews are expected to commence shortly for the expanding team.

In addition to the refurbished Clubroom, there will be a new business hub with workstations, charging points, and fast Wi-Fi, emphasising meeting hybrid working demands. The brand-new DL Kids area will provide children with activities and fun while giving parents the space and assurances to work.

New facilities include a Spa Retreat with a Himalayan Salt Sauna, Hydrotherapy Pool, Ice Cave, Crystal Steam Room, Rainforest Experience Shower, and Heated Beds.

There will also be a brand-new BLAZE Studio, which is David Lloyd Club’s exclusive Signature Collection class, combining cardio, strength, and combat with bespoke playlists. The brand-new boutique Mind & Body Studio, High Energy Studio and Cycle Hub will host hundreds of weekly group exercise classes.

Kristen Westwood, General Manager, commented: “David Lloyd Fulham will be a fantastic place. I am delighted to return as General Manager to oversee the building of our new community. Our recruitment drive is a fantastic opportunity for those with the energy and passion to thrive in a fast-paced fitness environment.

“We want members to be as excited as we are about this huge transformation to an already sought-after Club. We need a diligent team enthused by fitness and committed to helping our members get the most out of their experience. The upgraded facilities will cement David Lloyd Fulham as a luxurious and premium destination.

“Many of our senior team have transferred from across the United Kingdom, and we are steadfastly committed to seeing Fulham become a signature destination that locals can be proud of.”
