Leeds Bradford Airport expansion 'takes off' with £160 million backing
An airport says its growth plans are ready for take-off after securing £160 million support.
Leeds Bradford Airport has been backed by NatWest.
Bosses say the “milestone” funding will add extra thrust to a £100 million terminal expansion.
Planned to increase passenger capacity to around 6.8 million by 2030 and include new retail, dining, baggage and passport control areas, they add the development will “transform the airport into a more competitive asset”.
Its financial package – led by NatWest’s debt advisory team – includes the refinancing of existing facilities and an upsized capital expenditure facility.
Alex Tong, Leeds Bradford Airport’s chief financial officer, said: “This significant milestone provides us with the financial stability and resources to continue our growth trajectory.
“We are grateful to NatWest for their support and expertise in structuring this transaction, which will undoubtedly benefit our business for years to come.”
Graeme Ferguson, head of airports at global infrastructure manager InfraBridge, which owns Leeds Bradford Airport, said: “This reflects the momentum and the confidence in the airport’s future potential.
“It will help advance the next phase of the airport’s development, creating opportunity for growth, investment and greater connectivity for the region.”
Gazal Heda, NatWest head of debt advisory, added: “We are delighted to have partnered with Leeds Bradford Airport as it navigates its ambitious growth plans.”
