CEG forges ahead with housing partner
A mixed-use development is set to welcome its first housing partner as plans progress for a new community on a historic industrial site.
Leeds-based CEG has selected Banks Homes as its joint venture partner for the first phase of a “flagship development” at Kirkstall Forge, which dates back to the 12th century.
The partnership will begin with a reserved matters planning application to deliver a range of family homes on the eastern side of the £600 million site.
Joe Cable, project manager at Durham-based Banks Homes, said: “We’re very pleased to be combining our experience and working in partnership with CEG at Kirkstall Forge.
“It will be a flagship development for Banks Homes in Leeds, and we look forward to delivering sought-after homes in a fantastic new community, along with all the benefits that will bring to the area.”
Kirkstall Forge has already seen more than £100 million invested in regeneration works, including infrastructure, river walls and delivery of the Number One office building.
The 56-acre brownfield site is planned to feature homes, commercial space, retail and leisure facilities.
A public consultation on the proposals will take place on July 3 at Number One.
