Eastgate Engineering appoints new leadership team

Eastgate Engineering has strengthened its board as the company enters its next phase of growth.

The new leadership team brings extensive experience, enhancing Eastgate’s ability to deliver complex projects across the UK and internationally.

David Brennan – chief executive

David founded Eastgate Engineering in 2007.

With years of hands-on industry experience, he continues to lead the company on diverse, multi-sector projects, guiding a growing team with a focus on innovation, quality and sustainability.

He said: “I started my career as an apprentice electrician working mainly on construction of new Pharmaceutical plants, Hi-tech facilities, chemical plants and power stations.”

“After getting an opportunity to enter the office, I developed my career as an E&I quality surveyor and after a few years I took on the role of project manager at 24 years of age in the UK.

“After many projects spanning across the world, I eventually bit the bullet and opened the office for Eastgate Engineering with our first major projects in North East of England and Wales.

“We now have almost 300 people working on our projects and I still have my tool-box (just in case).”

Paul Carvill – managing director

Joining in May 2025, Paul brings over 30 years’ experience in highly regulated industries including nuclear, power and oil & gas.

He draws on his early mechanical apprenticeship to build strong relationships with clients, suppliers and partners.

Paul said: “As managing director of Eastgate Engineering, I am committed to building a forward-thinking, client-focused business that thrives on innovation, integrity and long-term partnerships.”

Anthony Fiske – commercial director

Anthony joined in April 2025, with 18 years’ experience in commercial operations and project controls.

A former technical clerk who progressed through quantity surveying, he now applies his knowledge to drive Eastgate’s commercial growth.

Anthony said: “Like many others; I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do, though I did know that I enjoyed computers and maths.

“I am excited for what the future holds and proud to be part of Eastgate Engineering’s journey.

“When I’m not watching my beloved Middlesborough FC, or any other team, I’m buried in fantasy football: plotting transfers, scouting players and even delivering pep talks to my imaginary squad as if they can actually hear me.”

Claire Maithe – chief financial officer

Claire joined in June 2025, bringing over 20 years of accounting and finance experience.

She strengthens Eastgate’s financial performance and operational resilience, supporting sustainable growth and strategic acquisitions.

Claire said: “I have held roles in a range of family and private equity owned businesses, with turnovers ranging from £25 million to £2.2 billion across a variety of sectors including education, automotive, procurement, technology, travel and more recently I have ventured into the engineering space in my role as chief financial officer at Eastgate.

“Whilst numbers are my game, people are my passion and I love growing, developing and nurturing teams to achieve their full potential.”
