Ilkley scheme wins heritage award
A West Yorkshire property development is celebrating national acclaim after transforming a town-centre building into new homes.
Langbar House in Ilkley has received a Conservation Commendation from Ilkley Civic Society following the conversion of the upper floors of a prominent building on The Grove into ten apartments.
The award recognises projects that positively enhance the townscape, with judges praising the extensive exterior restoration work, including new roof slates, chimney repairs and full re-rendering to secure the building’s long-term future.
The homes have been created by development partners YorPlace and Square Feet, with architectural design by Halliday Clark and construction delivered by Dobsons of Ilkley.
Overlooking The Grove and close to the town’s cafés, shops, restaurants and rail links, Langbar House offers a central location just over a mile from the Cow & Calf.
The partnership between YorPlace and Square Feet has also delivered several successful schemes across the Wharfe Valley, including projects in Ilkley, Burley in Wharfedale and Darley.
Remaining apartments are now on the market through Dacre, Son & Hartley’s new homes division, which is also hosting regular viewing sessions for prospective buyers.
Patrick McCutcheon, head of residential at Dacre, Son & Hartley, said: “Yorplace and Square Feet have successfully transformed several heritage buildings in the local area into stunning homes and all their developments have been very successful, so this recognition from Ilkley Civic Society is very well deserved.
“We now only have a selection of two bedroom apartments still for sale that all offer very generous living areas, an exceptional specification and lovely views from the upper floors.
“Anyone interested in experiencing the quality of what’s on offer in this exclusive development can visit on Wednesdays or Saturdays, or else make an appointment to view at their own convenience.
“The development offers lift access to each floor, including the residents’ basement store, and apartment 9 is unique with a westerly facing balcony accessed from the living room, which enjoys lovely views over Mill Ghyll.”
