Care trainer earns industry accolade

A North East training provider has received industry recognition for its work in supporting the UK’s stretched social care sector.

South Shields-based Training in Care has been named Best Care Sector Training Provider at the 2025 Northern Enterprise Awards, recognising its long-standing contribution to developing skills and strengthening the care workforce.

The accolade reflects the organisation’s focus on practical, needs-led training designed to help care providers respond to ongoing pressures across the sector.

Dr Angela Brown, chief executive of Training in Care, said: “This award recognises the dedication of our team and the many care providers, managers and learners we work with every day.

“Our approach is centred on understanding an organisation’s culture, values and challenges, which then allows us to design training that is relevant, meaningful and immediately impactful, and this award is testament that.

“It is a fantastic achievement for the team and the amazing work they day day-in, day-out, to ensure the nation’s carers are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to provide the best possible care.”

Training in Care delivers bespoke programmes tailored to the evolving demands of social care.

Over more than two decades, the business has supported more than 2500 people into care roles, continually updating its courses to remain compliant, relevant and aligned with best practice.

Its training offer includes face-to-face, blended and in-house delivery, enabling care providers to upskill staff without disrupting day-to-day operations.

This flexible approach has helped organisations maintain service quality while responding to workforce challenges.

Building on its latest recognition, the company is now preparing to expand its reach in 2026 with the launch of new and updated courses and plans to move into additional markets.

Alongside this growth, Training in Care continues to focus on widening access to employment, offering vocational routes into both adult and children’s care for career changers, school leavers and those facing barriers to work.

Dr Brown added: “We expanded into Surrey last year and have even great plans afoot this year to continue growing our presence in the UK.

“In partnership with the University of Sunderland and backed by funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we also began delivering a series of business-to-business courses to employers in the North East last year, which proved a huge hit.

“The courses were designed via training needs an analysis, meaning they were tailored to the exact needs of the businesses and voluntary organisations receiving the training, and this is something we’re keen to build on this year.

“It has been another fantastic year for the business and we couldn’t have achieved it without our fantastic team.

“Hopefully in 2026, there’s even more to come.”
