PR firm celebrates five-year milestone
A Sunderland-based communications agency is celebrating five years in business after achieving rapid growth, international reach and a strong focus on purpose-led public relations.
Marriott Communications has grown from a challenger consultancy into a globally active strategic communications agency working across the UK, Europe and the United States.
Founded with a belief that public relations could be more ethical, intelligent and human, the firm has scaled through periods of economic uncertainty and now supports more than 40 clients across sectors including finance, entertainment, the third sector, creative industries, legal services and advocacy.
Over the past five years, its campaigns have reached more than 120 million people worldwide through digital and traditional media.
Alongside commercial growth, social impact has remained central, with the agency delivering more than 900 hours of pro bono support to charities and advocacy organisations across the UK and internationally.
The agency has also expanded its service offering, launching specialist support for startups and third-sector organisations and introducing the North East’s first dedicated PR intelligence service in 2025.
Looking ahead, Marriott Communications is planning to grow its international footprint, with offices proposed in Dubai and Washington D.C., alongside a new international relations service.
Samuel Marriott-Dowding, founder and chief executive of Marriott Communications, said:
“Five years ago, I took a chance on myself and started Marriott Communications, not knowing exactly where it would lead, only knowing that I believed in myself.
“This week marks five years of Marriott Communications – and it’s a moment of real pride, reflection and gratitude.
“For the people who believed in me and what my agency stands for, the challenges that shaped us, and the work that reminded me why this mattered in the first place.
“We will continue into this new year doing what we do best: being bold, brave, and fearless.”
