Ark Estates secures Harbour Road site
A Highland property investment firm has strengthened its Inverness presence with the acquisition of a prominent commercial redevelopment site.
Ark Estates has purchased the former Royal Bank of Scotland headquarters at 29–31 Harbour Road, expanding its commercial portfolio in the city.
The two-storey retail and office building extends to more than 10,000sq ft and sits on a 0.572-acre site close to Inverness Harbour.
The existing flat roof structure is scheduled for demolition in January 2026, clearing the way for redevelopment, subject to securing interest.
Ark Estates is working with property agents Graham + Sibbald to identify a long-term tenant for the site, as plans progress to unlock its future potential.
Willie Gray, managing director of Ark Estates, said: “We are delighted to have acquired this high-profile site on Harbour Road.
“After taking down the current flat roof building we will redevelop the site, which – with a 0.572-acre footprint and a prime location – would be suitable for a number of commercial uses.
“Subject to negotiation with any prospective new tenant, we will replace the dated building with a bespoke new, energy efficient structure with substantial yard or parking provision.”
Kenny McKenzie, associate (commercial) at Graham + Sibbald, letting agents for the property, added: “There’s real demand from the commercial property market for modern, energy efficient units, and we look forward to receiving submissions of interest for this prime site.
“Ark Estates is leading the way with the work it has done on its portfolio of properties across the Longman Industrial estate, introducing sustainable technologies to future proof them for long term tenants, and we expect much interest in such a rarely available redevelopment opportunity.”
