Redrow North West makes two director appointments
Redrow’s North West division has promoted two team members to director roles, strengthening its construction and land teams.
Paul Murray has been appointed land and planning director, responsible for identifying development opportunities and guiding sites through the planning process.
He joined Redrow in 2013 after studying planning at university.
Paul, who over the past 13 years has progressed through the ranks from an assistant planner to planner, senior planning manager to head of planning and then strategic land director, said: “I actually applied for the Redrow rotational graduate scheme after leaving university and reached the interview stage.
“The scheme only accepted limited numbers, and I didn’t get a place.
“I thought I had crumbled in the interview and didn’t cut the mustard, but fortunately, they must have seen some potential, as I was given a second chance through the North West division.
“They called me asking if I wanted to discuss an assistant planner role, which I did and then didn’t look back.
“I first joined Redrow as a 22-year-old, I don’t think I appreciated what I would become part of.
“As time grew and I really got to know the business and the history, I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.
“We have a fantastic team here.
“The commitment everyone shows to our shared ethos is remarkable and there’s a real sense of pride in working for Redrow.
“Housing is such an important issue for the country, both economically and socially. I’ve reached the top of the mountain in my little niche and it’s the best job in the best business.”
Ian Roberton has been promoted to construction director after joining the business in 2013 as an assistant site manager and progressing through several roles including site manager and area construction manager.
In his new role, Ian will lead Redrow’s site teams across the North West, ensuring developments are delivered safely, on time and to the highest quality standards.
Ian added: “I’ve been very lucky throughout my career.
“I always knew I wanted to work outside.
“I got my first break through my family’s joinery business, spending weekends working with them before becoming an apprentice joiner working on sites across the North West.
“It gave me great hands‑on experience and a solid grounding at the start of my career.
“This role is never a solo effort.
“I’ve always been supported by an excellent team, and as the saying goes - you are only as strong as the team you work with.
“I always wanted to work for Redrow.
“I remember seeing a TV advert for their homes when I was young and thinking, ‘That’s where I want to be one day.’
“I never imagined it would actually happen, I feel very fortunate to be here.”
