Northern LGPS strengthens leadership team

Manchester-based Northern LGPS Ltd has appointed John Dewey as chief investment officer, Sera Sadrettin as chief operating and finance officer and Lorraine Solway as chief risk officer as it prepares to become a fully regulated investment pool company.

John joins from West Yorkshire Pension Fund, where he held the chief investment officer role, while Sera brings senior operational and finance leadership experience from Fidelity International.

Lorraine joins from Octopus Money, having previously held chief risk officer positions at Virgin Money and NEST.

Their appointments follow the recent arrival of chair Elizabeth Renshaw-Ames and chief executive Paras Anand, completing the senior leadership structure for the organisation.

Chair Elizabeth Renshaw-Ames said: “The calibre of the individuals joining us speaks to the strength of what the Northern LGPS Pool has built over the past decade and the ambition we have for its future.

“We are confident this leadership team will deliver for our members, our regional partner funds and the communities we serve.”

Northern LGPS manages approximately £70 billion of assets on behalf of 870,000 members across Greater Manchester, Merseyside and West Yorkshire.

The pool has invested more than £26 billion into the UK economy and is recognised as one of the highest-performing local government pension pools in England and Wales.

The new leadership team will support the transition to a single professionally governed investment management structure under recent government reforms.

Paras added: “I would like to welcome the senior leadership team to Northern LGPS.

“They bring with them the experience, judgement and credibility expected of us to operate at the highest standards of governance and investment management.

“I have no doubt that together we will deliver for our members and partner funds, and continue to play a significant role in shaping how the UK pension industry develops.”
