SolarSense strengthens senior leadership team

Bristol-based renewable energy specialist SolarSense has strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of Adrian Thomas as director of sales and marketing and Rich Furniss as non-executive director.

Adrian, a board member at Solar Energy UK, will be based at the company’s new Manchester office, bringing extensive experience in renewable energy, commercial growth and market development to support SolarSense’s expansion across the North of England.

He said: “SolarSense attributes its growth to extraordinary customer care, a long-term commitment to environmental issues and solar options with no upfront cost that can help customers generate clean electricity on site at a fraction of the cost of grid power.

“We are bringing that and more to companies across the north and I am incredibly proud to be a part of this growing story.”

Rich joins the board as non-executive director, adding significant renewable energy and commercial leadership expertise alongside recently appointed non-executive director Ric Hampton.

The appointments coincide with the opening of SolarSense’s Manchester hub, supporting the employee-owned business’ continued UK growth as demand for commercial renewable energy solutions continues to rise.

Russell Mees, SolarSense’s managing director, added: “Opening our Manchester office strengthens our ability to support a growing list of cross-sector customers in the North of England while continuing our growth nationwide.

“Here in the North West we’re working with organisations including TK Maxx, Go Store, King’s School Macclesfield and A1 Engineering Services.”

Founder Stephen Barrett added: “A lot has changed since I started out 30 years ago.

“Renewable energy is now the world’s largest source of electricity generation, underlining the pace of change we’ve seen across the industry.

“Renewables are central to energy security and business resilience.

“As costs continue to fall and organisations invest in cleaner power, we’re excited about the role SolarSense can play in supporting that transition.”
