Emsleys appoints new managing director

Leeds-based law firm Emsleys Solicitors has appointed Charlie Greenwood as its new owner and managing director as part of a generational transition in its senior leadership.

Charlie, a barrister specialising in commercial litigation, is the son of director and owner Andrew Greenwood and takes over leadership responsibilities from Judith Hogg.

Charlie said: “It is an honour to take on the role of managing director at such an exciting time for Emsleys.

“Judith and my father leave a fantastic legacy in operational and financial strength, and I am looking forward to working alongside them to build on that legacy.

“The firm is in an excellent position and is now primed for growth to both its current practice areas along with new areas of legal services which I am keen to develop.

“Our core focus remains unchanged: delivering outstanding legal services while building on the deep-rooted trust our clients have placed in us for over a century.”

Judith, who has led the firm through a period of operational modernisation, moves into the role of finance director.

She will lead Emsleys’ strategic financial planning and administration while remaining part of its executive decision-making team.

Judith added: “Having led Emsleys through significant periods of growth, I am thrilled to move into the finance director role.

“Having worked closely alongside Andrew for many years, I know the firm is in exceptionally safe hands with Charlie leading the business forward.”

The changes take effect immediately, with the updated executive board overseeing the firm's continued development, client service and regional growth.

Emsleys traces its Yorkshire roots back to the 19th century and provides personal and commercial legal services to clients across Leeds and the wider region.

Andrew added: “Emsleys has built its reputation on looking after families across generations.

“It is a source of immense pride to see this same ethos reflected within our own leadership team.

“Charlie brings fresh perspectives, strong legal acumen, and a deep dedication to our core values, making him ideally placed to guide the practice into its next chapter.”
