Smuggler in a bit of a flap
A Russian woman who tried to smuggle nine rare parrots into the country was arrested after a customs officer noticed her coat moving. Denisa Mrazova, 35, was stopped as she arrived in Blagoveshchensk on a flight from China.
Ananova.com reports that she had taped their beaks to keep them quiet, but the fidgeting parrots still wriggled under the heavy coat she was wearing, alerting the guards. Officers who told her to take off her coat found nine birds strapped to her body. The birds have been put in quarantine. Ms Mrazova, we hope, is being given lessons in not being quite so stupid.
