One-legged driver outruns police
Seriously.
Police in Florida were probably a little embarrassed when a driver with no arms and just one leg lost them in a high-speed chase – again. The St Petersburg Times reports that Michael Wiley of Pasco County eluded two police cars on Tuesday afternoon but was caught on Wednesday. The 40-year-old sufferred an accident in his childhood which cost him three limbs, but he still managed to teach himself how to drive – though not how to obey traffic laws. He has had his license suspended or revoked 20 times in the past 20 years, and has always been released from custody on little or no bail because judges felt sorry for him, and prisons had trouble meeting his needs. This time, however, the judge set bail at $500,000.
