Russian rugby players' boots stolen
Thieves stole several Russian rugby players’ boots last week - just days before the national team’s match against Romania. Nine pairs of boots and other gear disappeared from the team’s hotel in Bucharest during a power cut, reports the BBC.
The Romanian Rugby Federation said it had offered to provide the Russians with new boots for the Sunday game. It added that a police investigation was now under way following the burglary at the Tei Student Sport complex.
FRR spokesman Radu Konstantin told the BBC News website that reports that the Russians had to train in socks the following day were not true.
