Swan in love with paddleboat, pt. 3
A year ago, we gave you the latest on this odd pairing: Petra, a black swan and her (ahem) plastic boyfriend, a paddleboat. Now, as winter approaches one year later, the couple will once again be allowed to spend those cold winter months keeping each other warm.
Petra made headlines across the world after she fell madly in love with the boat, after refusing to leave the inanimate object for the winter.
Proving love can survive in the limelight, having spent her summer blissfully following the boat as it was pedalled around the lake, Petra is getting a brand new, winterized hutch so she can spend the cold months near her oversized, plastic sweetheart as well.
Next year, the staff at Aasee lake in Germany are hoping for a more permanent solution. As part of a shore refurbishment project, winter quarters for both the boat and its girlfriend are to be built - directly on the lake shore.
