Free beer for St Patrick's Day
Metro has teamed up with the bastion of Irishness, Guinness, to offer passengers a free pint on St Patrick’s Day. In order to claim their free pint of Guiness passengers need to be over 18 and have a valid ticket or Metro pass and show it to the Guinness promotions team when they pass through Metro stations in the centre of Newcastle today. (Sorry for those of you who live or work elsewhere…)
They will be given a voucher which they can redeem on St Patrick’s Day, Monday March 17, at selected pubs in Newcastle, North Tyneside and Gateshead.
Emma Holmes, Metro Commercial Director, said: “St Patrick’s Day promises to be a big event in Newcastle this year with plenty going on and I’m delighted that Metro is able to play a part in what should be a hugely successful day.”
The pubs taking part in the scheme are: Sgt Peppers, The Charles Grey, the Tyneside Irish Centre, The Shamrock Stage, Sam Jacks, Centurion Bar, The Bridge Hotel, The Baccus, The Bodega, Crown Posada, Fitzgeralds, Market Lane, The New Bridge, The Vaults, The Lodge, Rockliffe Arms in Whitley Bay, Fitzgeralds Whitley Bay, Fitzpatricks in Tynemouth, The Chillingham in Heaton, The Green in Heworth, Twin Farms at Bank Foot and the Shiremoor House Farm.
Metro offered no comment on the potential this scheme has to encourage binge drinking.
