Begging for change
Shops in a Chinese city say they are so short of coins they have to get change from beggars. Stores in Kunming city complain banks don’t provide them with enough coins to maintain their businesses.
A Ms Chen, of Yinwang stationery, said: “Each month, a single shop needs around 2,000 yuan in coins, but the banks always say they don’t have coins. “The beggars are not doing this for free. Usually they charge 105 yuan for 100 yuan coins.”
