Entrepreneurial advice from 'The Body'
She is known as the Body but former supermodel Elle Macpherson will be sharing her business brain when she flies in to the North East for the Entrepreneurs’ Forum’s fifth annual conference.
Combining entrepreneurial flair with humanitarian work, international glamour and a screen career, the Australian businesswoman is making her first trip to the region. She is one of the keynote speakers at this year’s Forum conference, entitled Progres5ive, at The Hilton, Gateshead on May 22, supported by One NorthEast.
Carole Beverley, Chief executive of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, said: “Elle Macpherson is one of the most recognisable women in the world. Her face and body are a business in their own right and continue to bring her commercial success but she has never been one to settle for that alone. Elle is a highly successful entrepreneur and has some fascinating knowledge to share with regard to retail, product development, manufacturing, licensing, sales and marketing. We expect her to be an enormous draw for this year’s conference.”
As well as her international modelling career, in 1989 she turned to business after seeing an opportunity to create a line of lingerie bearing her name. Today Elle Macpherson Intimates is worth around $10 million and considered to be one of the most recognisable fashion lingerie brands in the world. A men’s range has been launched in Australia and New Zealand and Elle is said to have plans for a flagship store in London.
