Lifeboat rescues own source of income
A fishing boat crew had to be rescued by a local lifeboat this weekend after suffering engine failure off the Redcar coast - while taking part in a competition to raise funds for the RNLI.
The vessel was competing in the Jim Maidens fishing competition, close to Skinningrove.
Dave Cocks, of Redcar RNLI, said: “The competition has raised thousands of pounds for the RNLI and always has a large number of boats taking part. With that number of entrants there’s always the possibility that one of them might have a mishap.
“On this occasion it was a case of simply towing the broken down boat back to the beach at Saltburn.”
