A new way to contact life in the cosmos has been launched, and you can now text away to space.
Hello from Earth, an Australian website, will transmit short messages, up to 160 characters, to Gliese 581d, that catchy little planet that is supposedly the most Earth-like planet outside the solar system.
One sobering message, from Sandeep in Abu Dhabi, said: “Please do not come to earth, it’s too polluted and the planet has almost reached its end.” Nothing like a bit of optimism.
I can’t wait for the reply from Marvin the Martian, an alien smiley will surely be worth the wait.
