So Long, Farewell, Auf Weidersehen, Goodbye
The irregularly-awarded prize of bdaily’s quote of the week has been awarded to Inverness councillor John Finnie for his excellent parting shot: “if things get really awkward I understand nursery rhymes will be deployed.”
Mr Finnie was talking to the BBC about the recent measures by the Hilton Community Centre in Inverness to disperse youngsters from the local youth club.
Apparently the youth facilities at the centre are so popular that many visitors are refusing to leave when the centre closes, forcing staff to blast “My Favourite Things” and “The Hills Are Alive” from the speakers to encourage speedy exits.
Councillor Finnie explained: “There has been a lot of work which has gone into the facilities at Hilton Community Centre.
“They are so very much appreciated by the young folk that they are very keen to hang around and don’t want to go home at 10pm.
“So this is a creative use of music - classical music, musicals and if things get really awkward I understand nursery rhymes will be deployed.”
