Chico kicks off with region’s own Mystic Meg
X-FACTOR’S Chico says a self-proclaimed soothsayer from the North East “sparked the desire” to record a song for England’s upcoming World Cup campaign.
Chico had the idea for ‘It’s England Time’ six months ago, but was undecided about whether to record it or not. Then he spoke to Dean Midas Maynard, who claims to be a prediction expert, and decided to give it a shot.
Chico said: “If it hadn’t have been for Dean, it wouldn’t have happened. He deserves as much of the credit as me.”
Mr. Maynard has already predicted that England WILL lift the World Cup trophy in South Africa this Summer and a phone call to Chico inspired the former goatherd to record ‘It’s England Time’.
Dean Maynard, from County Durham, said: “I asked Chico in January if he would re-record I_t’s Chico Time_ and change it to It’s England Time for the World Cup.
“I thought it would be a flat no, but he phoned me and said he had already wrote the song 6 months before and this was fates way of saying record it.”
Chico famously came 5th on 2005’s X-Factor and his self penned song, ‘It’s Chico Time’, went on to reach number 1 in early 2006, knocking Madonna off the top spot.
The World Cup song is released on June 7th and all proceeds will be donated to charity.
