Scouting for business talent
THE Scout Association will launch an entrepreneur badge, adding business start-ups to a list of approved activities that more traditionally includes camping, singalongs and woggle-wearing, the FT reports.
The move reflects a trend for schools and mainstream youth organisations to promote entrepreneurship as a discipline that encourages self-reliance and leadership.
However, the new badge may dismay some traditionalists, who would argue that scouts should concentrate on tying knots rather than writing business plans.
