Dogs have their day despite age of austerity
A COUNCIL has spent more than £7,000 installing the country’s first public adventure playground for dogs, so owners can keep their pets trim and healthy.
The park has a variety Crufts-style obstacles including with tunnels, ramps, hoops and hurdles.
The new development in Southern Country Park, Bishop’s Stortford, Herts., was launched as a PDSA study found that half of the dogs in the UK will be obese in five years.
Dogs yesterday leapt through a paw-shaped hoop, negotiated ramps, zigzagged between poles and squeezed through tunnels in the 30ft doggy play area.
And the obstacle course is designed to give owners as well as their canine companions the runaround.
Specialist equipment for the park was purchased by South Herts District Council for £7,000 plus further costs for installation.
