Art event set to be biggest yet
THE region’s public and private sectors have joined forces to support a major arts event which this year will be the biggest in its history.
The NewcastleGateshead Art Fair is expected to attract a record 10,000 art enthusiasts and visitors when it opens next month.
The fair is the largest commercial event of its kind in the North East and opens its doors at the Sage Gateshead, on October 1-3.
This year the event has been supported cosmetic dental practice Complete Smile, based in South Shields.
Art collector and Cosmetic Smile clinical director Allen Branley said: “It seemed natural to support the NewcastleGateshead Art Fair 2010 as it’s not only a significant driver of the arts economy but a great platform for promoting the area as a destination venue for visitors.
“We believe the art fair could soon become the most significant arts fair outside of London.
“I have personally been collecting art for a number of years and have been lucky enough to travel the world teaching and lecturing to dentists, visiting some of the world’s most prestigious galleries along the way.”
