60 new jobs created at seaside store
THE extended Sainsbury’s store in Whitley Bay has provided a huge boost to local employment with the news that 60 new posts have been filled.
55 part-time colleagues and 5 full-time colleagues have been recruited at the store, situated on Newstead Drive in the seaside town.
All of the jobs have gone to people within a 5 mile radius of the store, giving local residents the chance to build a career at the national chain.
In total, 305 colleagues will be working at the store which has been extended by over to 12,000 sq ft to 47,000 sq ft.
Sainsbury’s Whitley Bay store manager Gerry Storey said the store had a fantastic response to the roles. “We filled up the roles available to the people of Whitley Bay really quickly and our new recruits can’t wait to deliver great service to customers,” he said.
