Project launched to enhance the North East’s business capabilities
The Institute of Directors North East has launched a project to enhance the region’s business capabilities by equipping people with the knowledge to step up to being a company director.
It is aiming to help give ambitious businessmen and women in the region a professional edge through a series of Director Development breakfast seminars.
The knowledge enhancing forums will focus on roles including the Chairman, Chief Executive and Non-executive Director and will start at the end of this month.
The Institute of Directors has enlisted a wide range of experts to take part in the seminars including Andrew Scaife, Managing Director, of Quantum Pharmaceutical, Ian Dormer, Managing Director, of Rosh Engineering, John Josephs, Governor and chair of one of the Board sub-committees at the University of Northumbria, David Stonehouse, Chief Executive of TSG, and Andy Briggs, Finance Director, of T &G Allan.
Alastair Thomson, Chairman of the IoD in the North East, said: “It is important that those who have ambitions to take leading roles in companies are equipped with the tools and techniques to be as effective as possible.
“These IoD North East seminars will enable business executives to gain intelligence and insight from experts into a range of directors’ roles and as a result their ability to make a meaningful contribution to the economic well-being of the region will be greatly increased.
He added: “Our speakers, who are from a wide variety of backgrounds, will be able to impart practical and useful information about different types of directorships.”
