New superstores would create 1,300 new jobs
There are hopes that three new superstores proposed for County Durham could create hundreds of jobs.
Councillors have approved plans for two stores in Peterlee, and a further one at Dalton Park complex in Murton.
This would also include a hotel and cinema, which would bring the total number of new jobs to 1,300.
Local councillor Audrey Laing said she was delighted at the plans, which would bring Peterlee’s “old and sixties” town centre into the 21st century.
