99p Store to open in The Ridings
Thirty jobs have been created in Wakefield with the transformation of an empty unit at The Ridings Shopping Centre into a new 99p Store, one of the UK’s fastest growing brands.
The retailer, which specialises in selling quality products for less than £1has taken a 7,000 sq ft space on the middle level and will open on 6th August.
Barbara Winston, centre manager for The Ridings, said: “This is one of our largest units in the mall, so it’s fantastic news for us. The 99p store is a great addition to the centre and is another reason for shoppers to visit a retail destination that also boasts leading fashion retailers, homeware stores and unique craft shops.”
99p Stores is a family-run business with more than 200 high street discount outlets offering a range of over 3000 items, including branded products. Nadir Lalani, chief executive officer, added: “Wakefield is very much on the up and definitely a ‘shopping city’. It’s a place where people respect value and demand it; the idea of paying three times over the odds for everyday basics like branded toothpaste, coffee and washing-up liquid is thing of the past.
“Shoppers here want sensible pricing - and we are delighted to oblige.”
The Ridings was the first under cover shopping centre in Yorkshire. The three level mall comprises 345,000 sq. ft. and houses over 90 stores and restaurants, including BHS, Primark and Marks & Spencer alongside quality independents such as Created in Yorkshire, Monkey and Present Days.
The shopping centre is part of the Moorfield Group.
