Roof Tile firm Supports National Initiative
Leading roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles has announced that it will be part of a newly established trade body, the Roof Tile Association (RTA). The RTA will bring together the concrete and clay tile sectors for the first time, and will represent the interests of all manufacturers involved in the pitched roofing industry.
As a manufacturer of both concrete and clay roof tiles, Russell Roof Tiles, the UK’s third largest roof tile manufacturer by volume, fully supports the unification of two organisations into the newly created RTA. RRT has previously been a member of the Concrete Tile Manufactures Association (CTMA).
Russell Roof Tiles will be looking to work closely with the RTA moving forwards, and assist in ongoing efforts to communicate the many benefits of pitched roofs, as well as promoting the need for sustainable roofing materials.
Andrew Hayward, Managing Director of Russell Roof Tiles, commented: “The Challenge of sustainable roofing will not go away. Concrete can be a sustainable solution and this is something we have on our agenda as part of our long term product development programme.”
“Choosing products with the right sustainability credentials can have a huge influence on the energy efficiency rating of a building. Creating and manufacturing products that meet these needs should be a priority for the sector. Green architecture does not only benefit the environment, investing in sustainable materials is also significant step towards combining sustainability with performance for new homebuilders across the UK.”
Russell Roof Tiles hopes to play a key role in the RTA’s stated intention to influence the direction of key regulations and standards, and any future RTA activity and initiatives in 2014 and beyond.
