Acquisition makes Sunderland cleaning firm largest independent in the region
Sunderland-based contract cleaning and facilities management firm has become the largest independent of its type following the acquisition of competitor, New Life Cleaning Systems (North) Ltd.
Following the move the organisation will employ over 500 staff and increases Maxim’s turnover to near £5 million.
Now the firm has further plans to grow turnover to £15 million within the next three to four years, with further acquisitions planned across Scotland and the rest of the UK.
Graham Conway, managing director at Maxim said: “Our intention has always been to grow a national contract cleaning business offering wider facilities management services.
“We plan to do this from both organic growth and acquisition, and the purchase of New Life is our first step in moving towards this goal.
“Our heart is very much in the North East and our roots are firmly established here, yet we have a very clear objective to become a national company and one of the largest independent contract cleaning and facilities management companies in the UK.
“The cleaning market is a massive, multi billion pound business and is predominantly dominated by extremes of either PLCs or small local, family owned business.
“There are very few, mid-sized competitors operating in the £15 million to £35 million turnover bracket in the North, and it is very much our intention to work in this space and expand from the north east into the rest of the UK.”
Maxim was formed in 2010 and serves an impressive blue chip client base which includes Toys R US, Gentoo and Quorn Foods, as well as a number of private and state schools across the region.
The company also offers deep clean services for specialist environments including laboratories, hospitals and technical areas.
