The Phonetic Group celebrate 15 years of B2B telemarketing

It’s 15 years since the award-winning telemarketing agency Phonetic launched and in that time communication has changed considerably.

Back in 1999 – the eve of the Noughties, when less than half of the UK population (46%) owned a mobile phone and only 37% of adults used the internet either at home or at work** - the company understood the increasing importance of telemarketing in the communications mix. It now plays a major role in communications strategies for many companies, especially in the B2B sector where it can add real value to the buying cycle.

Founded by Managing Director Anne Bagnall – initially a sole trader working from home, with one phone and one client – the company has since enjoyed rapid growth and success.

Today Phonetic employs over 120 members of staff and, testament to its approach and expertise, its very first client is still on its books. It has now joined by an impressive portfolio of national blue chip companies and SMEs including: AXA Healthcare; Navman Wireless and Morgan Richardson Insurance Brokers.

So what is the secret of its success? “First and foremost, we work in close partnership with our clients to deliver quality, creative and flexible solutions,” says Bagnall. “At the very outset we get to know them and their business. We ensure that we understand their exact objectives and we then develop a strategy that will enable them to achieve them most effectively. We also recognise that each client and campaign is different, so we adopt a bespoke process each time.

The markets in which Phonetic operates today are a far cry from those when it launched 15 years ago. “Where do I think that we will we be in another decade and a half?” Bagnall says. “I’d like to think that we’ll still be ahead of the game, operating in what is an exciting, ever-evolving sector. Our creativity, quality and flexibility make us agile and able to quickly adapt to and pioneer change so we’re looking forward to the opportunities and challenges it will offer.”
