Warrington firm WHP snaps up Paragon Telecoms
Cheshire firm WHP Group, a provider of mobile telecoms services, has acquired St Helens-based Paragon Telecoms in a bid to increase its market share.
With Paragon Telecoms on its side, WHP Group believes it will be able to enhance its mobile network services and take advantage of a wider customer base.
The managing director of Warrington-based WHP, Rob Potter, said: “Paragon Telecoms is an excellent fit for WHP, both in terms of our culture and the skillset that the team will bring to the company.
“The acquisition puts us in good stead to strengthen our services and increase market share as we look to become the leading telecoms support business in the UK.”
The deal will see Terry Flanagan, a co-founder of Paragon Telecoms, joining WHP’s board as executive chairman.
Commenting on the acquisition, Terry said: “This deal represents another milestone in Paragon’s exciting development.
“We established the firm to bring a fresh approach to the strategic, tactical and operational challenges that we constantly face in the telecoms industry and we look forward to offering greater and more innovative solutions to clients under the ownership of WHP.”
Manchester firm Palatine Private Equity introduced Paragon Telecoms to WHP, while Convex Capital, which also has an office in the city, provided corporate finance advice during the transaction. Paragon, meanwhile, was advised by Ballard Evans.
Established in 1988, WHP has more than 300 members of staff. The company’s turnover has grown from £17m in 2012 to nearly £40m in 2015.
