Urban Car Spa expands with new centre at MediaCityUK
A new car wash and valeting business staffed by armed forces veterans has set up shop at MediaCityUK.
Urban Car Spa has launched in The Garage, the Greater Manchester development’s multi-storey car park, to offer waterless washing, interior cleaning and minor maintenance services while providing job opportunities for ex-services personnel adjusting to post-military life.
The site is Urban Car Spa’s fourth location, with three others spread across Merseyside.
The company’s managing director, ex-serviceman Jonny Rees-Davies, said: “MediaCityUK was a natural choice for our next location as over a third of all army recruits come from the North West.
“Former soldiers can have a difficult time readjusting to life after serving for our country. Our aim is to help reintegrate them back into working life by giving them an opportunity to be part of a familiar team structure with people like them.”
He added: “Ex-servicemen and women have many qualities – including integrity, attention to detail and a sense of duty – that we draw on to deliver an excellent customer experience.”
The firm claims that by keeping its services waterless, it is able to save an average of up to 40 litres, about half a bathtub, of water for every car cleaned.
MediaCityUK’s head of asset management, Mark Robinson, commented: “This is a fantastic project to be involved with.
“We are proud to help our army, navy and RAF veterans in whatever way we can, whilst bringing a new and valuable service to our community.”
