Liverpool businessmen to extend Water Street scheme with three new floors
The developers behind a multi-million pound residential development underway on Liverpool’s Water Street are looking to make the scheme even taller.
Craig Blackwell and Martin Wilcocks, of Prospect Capital and Wilcocks & Wilcocks respectively, submitted plans to extend the The Residence with an additional three floors.
If approved, the number of apartments at the development will rise from 96 to 123 across eight storeys.
Craig and Martin acquired the 73,000 sq ft building, located next to Oriel Chambers and Martins Bank in Liverpool’s business district, last year for £3.75m.
The pair’s plans for the 1970s property include a complete overhaul of the façade, installation of feature lighting throughout and a roof terrace.
Works are ahead of schedule on the site’s ground, first and second floors.
Craig Blackwell said “The work on the site for the current 96 apartments is all ahead of schedule and will retain the unique porthole styling in line with the architect’s original contemporary and minimalist vision.
“This building sits in the heart of one of the great streets in the business district, Water Street with views of the world famous waterfront.”
He added: “We now plan to add a roof terrace to residents can enjoy a fantastic space with breathtaking views of world heritage sites. Due to demand we have gone into planning for an additional 27 apartments.”
Both Craig and Martin recently moved their own companies into the building, which is also now home to Ascot Property Investments and several others.
The Residence is due for completion in November.
