Big buyers target Tyne and Wear
Buyers from big brands and leading stores are urging food and drink suppliers in Tyne and Wear to take advantage of an opportunity to promote their products face to face and discuss potentially lucrative deals.
Supermarkets and food service buyers from well-known names including Co-op, AHG Management (buyers for Asda), Booths, John West Foods and Marriott Hotels will be descending on Tyne and Wear next month in their search for new products. Their shopping lists include everything from fish and game to pastries and ready meals. The buyers are being introduced to small and medium-sized local companies in a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event organised by Business Link Tyne and Wear, to be held at Newcastle Racecourse in January.
Andy Brown, business development manager from Business Link Tyne and Wear, said: “We have been holding ‘Meet the Buyer’ events over a range of sectors for a number of years now and they have been a phenomenal success – bringing together local companies and buyers who are actively looking for new regional suppliers. “Introductions to such major buyers can bring about crucial contracts for our local businesses and buyers are attracted to this area because of its quality produce. We look forward to hearing of the outcome of this next event and I’m confident many lucrative deals will be done on the day.”
The event runs from 9am to 5pm on Tuesday, January 30, at Newcastle Racecourse, Gosforth Park. To attend call Karen Lilley on 0191 281 5777 or email Karen@business-business.co.uk.
