Are Tyne and Wear businesses spinning too many plates?
A new campaign is being launched by Business Link Tyne and Wear to encourage companies to seek external support to facilitate growth. The direct mail campaign will land on the desks of thousands of Tyneside and Wearside managers this week with the question “Do you sometimes feel that running your own business is like spinning plates?”.
Business Link cite research showing that businesses that get external help perform better in the long term as the driving force behind the campaign, as well as a recent survey by the Small Business Service (SBS) showing that nearly 50 percent of businesses in the UK plan to expand. The initiative aims to reinforce the message that support is available for those businesses going for growth in 2007.
Gren Irving from Business Link Tyne and Wear said: “Many businesses face obstacles to growth whether it be competition, staff shortages, a need for new machinery, finding the right finance or understanding regulations. “We aim to work with more and more companies to overcome these obstacles and promote the value of taking a longer-term approach to identifying what the real needs of the business are and how they can best be met.”
Business Link provides access to a wide range of independent information, advice and resources to help businesses develop. For more information call 0845 600 9 006 or visit www.businesslink.gov.uk.
