Tourism Chief checks in to North East England
The man responsible for marketing Britain across the world has been touring North East England. Christopher Rodrigues the new chair of VisitBritain has been on a fact finding mission to region to help him promote North East England overseas.
The two day tour included visits to Seaham Hall, Alnwick Garden and NewcastleGateshead Quayside. As well as taking in the region’s attractions, Christopher Rodrigues also met with a broad range of accommodation owners and tourism professionals. The trip also saw him learn about the awarding winning ‘Passionate people. Passionate places’ campaign, the work of the region’s Area Tourism Partnerships and how the Desti.ne e-business platform is helping the region win business online.
Christopher Rodrigues said: “It was great to visit North East England – home to wonderful destinations like Alnwick and the NewcastleGateshead waterfront as well as some of the UK’s hidden gems from the Northumbrian Coastline to Hadrian’s Wall. Worth a detour for every traveller!”
Stacy Hall, Director of Communications and Tourism at One NorthEast said: “Christopher Rodrigues only took over as chair at the start of the year and it is great that he is showing a real interest in North East England’s visitor economy. The visit was a chance for him to meet face to face with tourism businesses in the region and learn about the issues that affect them but also for us to share with him work we doing including the award winning ‘Passionate people. Passionate places’ campaign.”
