From business partners to matchmakers
Two enterprising web designers have a double cause for celebration after moving into new business premises and acquiring a niche reputation for delivering websites to an specific sector of the internet.
David Calvert from Cramlington and Alan Easton from Consett met and formed Boxmodel Design after working on individual projects for a mutual customer. From the early days of working from their homes, the pair have now moved into new business premises at Ashington’s Lintonville Enterprise Centre.
Their business specialises in designing websites, corporate brand identity and search engine marketing and has clients in the world of sport, education and general business. However, it is the recent boom in online social networking and dating sites that has led to a marked increase in business for David and Alan.
More than 30 million people have now used online dating websites, and Boxmodel Design are capitalising on this trend. The company now boasts contracts leading to the creation of six new online dating websites with the prospect of more in the pipeline.
“Worldwide, there is a £2.6 billion industry in dating websites alone,” said David. “Each one of our websites is bespoke and exactly matches what the client and the end user needs from a web-based match making service.”
One of Boxmodel Design’s most unusual website designs is being launched in April for Kicked Myself Dating, a unique London based website where people who see someone they want to know more about in a public place such as a restaurant, pub or even a the tube can post a message in the hope that the two can be united.
Alan said: “It’s quite ironic that dating websites have developed into one of our core businesses, both David and I are happily engaged to our fiancées so we won’t be using the services of our clients - no matter how good their websites are.”
