Seaton Delaval Hall campaign on course for success?
Over a year after the National Trust launched its appeal for £6.3 million to save Seaton Delaval Hall in Northumberland, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited the Hall at the weekend during the final push to secure it for the nation.
The campaign has so far raised £4 million including the £1million committed to the appeal by One North East.
Stacy Hall, Director of Communications and Tourism at One North East, said: “One North East is pleased to support the National Trust towards its acquisition of Seaton Delaval Hall, ensuring that its architectural splendour and gardens add to the visitor offer of North East England, whilst creating employment on the site and providing a boost for businesses in South East Northumberland.”
A small shortfall now remains and the Trust is asking the public to rally to the call and support the final push to raise the last £300,000.
Fiona Reynolds, Director-General of the National Trust said: “The success of the appeal to save Seaton Delaval Hall has exceeded all our expectations and the generosity and support of the public has been fantastic. We’re also delighted to receive the backing from One North East. I’m now very confident that we will succeed - we’re so nearly there and today we are calling on everyone to help in the final push to acquire the Hall, gardens and a large area of countryside around it for everyone to enjoy.”
