University draws potential out of graduates
Newcastle University will literally be spelling out the benefits of graduate employment today with a street art event.
The event, at Grey’s Monument in Newcastle between 12.30 and 1.30pm, will be attended by local entrepreneurs as well as University graduates.
‘Enterprisers’ is a 4-day residential programme managed by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL) at the University of Cambridge since 2003. Newcastle University is offering the course free to those who would like training to help get a graduate-level job, or those in current employment looking to exploit the skills gained at University and maximise their potential.
Nick Keeley, Director of Newcastle University’s Careers Service, said: “We wanted to do something a little bit unusual to draw attention to the benefits of the prestigious Enterprisers programme, which we are thrilled to be able to offer for free to Newcastle University graduates.
“In the current environment, getting the message across to employers that graduates can be a real asset to a business is very important; we hope to provide graduates who perhaps have not found the right career path with the right skills to promote themselves to employers and get where they want to be.”
Prof. Max Robinson, Founder Director of Kromek plc and Entrepreneur in Residence at Newcastle University Careers Service, said: “Taking part in Enterprisers is a truly life changing experience. I have taken part in 15 so far and I always come away energised and enthused. That is why I am so looking forward to this next one. There is a real spirit of: What would YOU do if you knew you couldn’t fail.”
