Great start for mum-lead business
An events company established by two stay-at-home mothers in the North East is attracting attention from across the UK with its first project.
Using their previous project management experience, entrepreneurs Suzanne Connor and Gemma Rodgerson have set up Ruby Red Events to offer event organisation and management, with emphasis on hosting events so far missing from the region.
And already, the company, based in Silksworth, Sunderland, is working towards its first large-scale event, the region’s first North East baby roadshow.
One hundred exhibitors are booked for the event at Newcastle Racecourse on 10 July next year, and the pair are confident they can double that for the following year’s event.
Ms Connor said: “Mixing with lots of mums, we have been aware over the past year that there has never really been a proper baby roadshow in the region and that got us thinking about hosting our own.
“Once the ball got rolling we realised that there was a gap in the market for a fresh, young and honest events organisation company and Ruby Red was born.
“We already have 100 exhibitors booked for the first roadshow, and we are confident there will double that by the time the show comes round, and many of the exhibitors have already secured their place for two further shows we are planning in 2011.”
