Global deal to help double turnover
A deal with the fourth largest software firm in the world will help a North East technology business double its turnover to £2m this year, while it is also steeling itself to enter the Chinese market.
County Durham’s Unified Software has landed a contract with German giant SAP that could see its online software, which validates financial information, sold into almost 50 countries.
German-born SAP is the fourth largest software firm in terms of revenue behind Microsoft, IBM and Oracle and enlisted Unified to produce a version of its online software to sell into its clients across the globe.
Unified expects to double its turnover to £2m in the next year and is also planning on launching a Chinese language version of its website to tap into the vast Asian market.
It has enjoyed booming sales among SMEs for its products through the ‘software as a service’ model.
The system means that, rather than investing in expensive software and then only using a fraction of its full capacity, firms can pay as they go for software via the internet.
However, the economic downturn has also meant that large blue-chip players are also keen to make savings by using the software.
Sales director Ross Miller said: “As well as SMEs, we also have large blue-chip clients such as BP. During the recession bigger companies were also saying why should we buy an expensive software package when we could just buy into this solution where we can pay for what we use, so we are seeing some really good growth.
“Our clients include JP Morgan in New York, as well as customers across Europe, the US and Australia.”
